8.5 x 11 Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Review
If you’re looking for a top of the line photo paper, you’ve found it in the Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper. Unlike many other photo papers, Epson Premium gives you the ability to work on most printers such as HP, Cannon (Cannon i860, i850), Kodak, and of course Epson (ie Epson R-380 printer, Epson 890 printer, R220). Although at a $31 to $39 price, Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper costs more than high value photopaper like the Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy, it gives you a quality on the level of a professional printer processing.
The Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper prints beautifully. The Colors are crisp, the droplets won’t smudge and the luster surface dries very quickly. If you’re trying to visualize what the Epson can do for you, compare it to the look and feel of photopaper that wedding photographers use. You can print high pixel and low pixel photos. The resolution is great on both but you will probably prefer the low pixels. Also, the stock has a nice “heavy” feel to it that gives you the sense it is not only durable, but of high quality.
Another way you can save money on the Epson Premium Ultra is it works double sided, meaning that if you mess up on a test print, you can simply turn it over and start new. Quite simply, this is the best quality of photo paper out there for at home printing. While I suppose technically it’s not “professional photopaper”, you will probably stop taking your photos to be developed at the store because you can make lab quality prints with your home printer. Another bonus is the Premium Epson paper also has water resistant qualities.
Great uses include scrapbooking, wedding photos, digital photography class, business cards, reproducing digital images in black and white or color, passport photos, family photos, and other projects requiring a high standard of quality.
Pros:
- matte finish paper, slightly matte look
- ink droplets won’t smudge
- high resolution
- great clarity
- like a professional photo lab at home
- super luster finish
- do not duplicate watermark on the back
- fine color
Overall, this is the best photo paper for your money if you want a super high quality finish. Yes, the price is higher than more value oriented photopapers, but you get exactly what you pay for according to my complete Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Review above. Sizes come in 8.5×11, 10×14, 8×10, and 5×7.
